About Steve Marchena

Steve Marchena teaches "Contemporary Rock/Metal Ensemble" at Berklee College of Music, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2001. His recent concert appearances include performances at Gillette Stadium, Jordan Hall, Copley Square Park, The Lebanon Opera House, Harper's Ferry, Ryle's Jazz Club, The House of Blues, The Knitting Factory, The Cape Playhouse and The Boston Hatch Shell. Steve won the Northeast Finals of Guitarmageddon 2004 and has played concerts opening for Al Di Meola and Nuno Bettencourt. He has recently performed with Jon Finn and The Boston Modern Orchestra Project. Steve is currently a member of "The Back Bay Guitar Trio" and "Hypaspace". He is endorsed by "Guitar Star Wear"

THE BACK BAY GUITAR TRIO is a guitar trio featuring Steve on classical guitar with two of Steve's former teachers, David Newsam (professor at Berklee, Dartmouth and UNH) and John Mason (Guitarmageddon 2002 National Champion)

HYPASPACE is an original instrumental rock group featuring Steve on electric guitar with Penny Larson (Brian McPherson) and Chris Urban (The Alien Blakk)

* I believe this performance was the Solo Guitar World Premiere of "Suite Espanola Op. 47" by Albeniz. I know it has been performed from start to finish by pianists, but I cannot find one example of a concert where a guitarist performed the entire suite, they always seem to choose 2 or 3 of the movements and don't play the others.
